David is still in California!! He is LOVING his mission. He is learning to speak Spanish really well. He has developed a great love for the people he is serving and is learning some hard lessons- that not everyone is treated equal in this country. He would like to encourage everyone to walk a mile in someone else's shoes before you judge that person, because it is not always as it seems. We are very proud of the man he is becoming. Can't believe that he turned 20 yesterday!!
Kacey finished her Freshman year at LC Bird High School. She did quite well. Maybe not as good as she wanted, but we are still proud of her accomplishments!! She had quite an eventful summer. She went to girl's camp in June. Then July, she went to EFY, Youth Conference, and turned 15!! Can't believe one more year and she will be driving and dating!! (I can feel the gray hairs popping in already!!)
Bethany finished her 7th grade year at Falling Creek Middle School with flying colors!! She really is a very smart young lady. She will have some hard decisions to make this year. Which specialty programs she wants to try for- the high schools here offer specialty programs that 8th graders can apply for and their high school classes will revolve around these programs. She has gotten into photography this summer and is always looking for a "photo" opportunity. She, too, went to girl's camp in June and had a blast.
Stephen finished 3rd grade on a roll. He adjusted really well to a new school and new friends. He was very nervous about going to a school where he didn't know anyone- but soon made new friends that share his interests. He went to Cub Scout Day Camp in August and also finished his Bear requirements in August. He is now working toward Webelos. I can't believe that he will be 10 in November!! Growing up too fast!!
We took a trip to our Nation's Capital this summer. We stayed in a hotel for 2 nights and took in some sights and museums. It was really nice to be able to share this time with Grandma and Grandpa Yachuw. We haven't been able to spend a lot of time with Grandparents and so what time we do have is always a special time!! While in Washington, we were able to visit with Great Uncle Joe- he is 92 and still kicking!! It was fun to hear his stories about his family(his parents were from Russia and we don't know a lot about them- so it was nice to hear stories). So, that was our summer in a nutshell- other than trips to Kings Dominion!!

Visiting Uncle Joe
